Internet Hosting
by Zachary Zerries
Someday soon there will be a joke for
how many Internet hosts it takes to screw
in a light bulb. The present fact is there
are thousands in the industry, with many
more on the way. Internet hosting has
become one of the more popular and
competitive venues on the web. Online
sites never had so many options, but it
also means they have their research cut
out for them.
Many web hosting plans are
accommodating and enticing for the online
shop. You see the extra disk space and
bandwidth, free domain name registration,
web site design and updates, all for $30
or $40 per month, and you're hooked. While
some plans are, in fact, what they say
they are, others may be a bit more
dubious.
Avoiding the Wrong
Internet Hosting Company
You essentially want to avoid Internet
hosts who insist on yearly or semi-annual
contracts. Businesses should have the
freedom and flexibility that come with a
monthly fee, rather than one that might be
chock full of hidden charges if you cancel
the contract. Flexibility a good
partnership makes in the world of Internet
hosting.
When researching hosts, make sure to
read up on a company's customer service
track record. You want a host who's
reliable and looking out for their
clients' best interests. For instance, if
a web site malfunctions, are they quick to
fix the problem, or are they out to lunch
for days on end? A quality web host is on
top of a problem within the hour,
constantly feeding a client updates. They
value customer feedback and actively
address concerns. This is the kind of
company you keep. |
